Looks like I'm going to have to take a week off from training, I banged my elbow pretty bad last friday and it feels like I've got a pinched nerve or something. I doesn't hurt per se but if I touch a certain part of my elbow it sends pain shooting up my wrist and the numbness in my wrist hasn't gone away either. If it's not better by the weekend than I'm going to need to get it checked out.
30 day fast food challenge day 30
I finish on a strong note by not having fast food today as well
Total saved: $132
Total expected to save $210
Total spend on fast food $78
Days fast food was consumed: 11
Percentage of days without fast food: 64%
I didn't save quite as much as I had hoped. The biggest culprits was the subway in my school on tuesdays and thursdays and the morning QT trips when I didn't get up early enough for breakfast. The former was easily solved once I bought my own cold-cuts and made my own sandwiches which also helped me on the nights when I just didn't feel up to cooking. I'll have to start pre-making more meals on the weekends to contend with my morning schedule, hard boiled eggs mixed with a veggie works well for this.
As this was more of a financial challenge than a diet I did notice how much more aware of my spending I was. This challenge helped me to make better decisions overall with my money, leaving me in a much better mental frame of mind overall. Even the times I did have a fast food, it didn't bother me as much because it was only one meal and it was from extra money I had from not wasting it in the first place.
Even though this challenge is over, it doesn't mean that I'm going to stop doing what I've been doing. I'm not going to start bingeing on fast food all of a sudden. I don't feel like I was denied anything. I could still have burgers, I just had to cook them on my own. The only food that I really missed was buffalo wings which I can't cook because I don't own a deep fryer which might be a consideration for the future...
I'm glad I've done this challenge and actually completed it. As I've said previously, this is the first full-on 30 day challenge I've completed and I did learn quite a bit about how my old habits affected me. I will continue to remain diligent to keep my fast food habit to a minimum.
